“ We tried the restaurant week $40 dinner deal at Char Bar. It was delicious! The hush puppies are so good and the country chop salad is a really great salad. The kingdom tray comes with chicken wings, ribs and burnt ends. Everything was great, but the burnt ends were amazing. I don't care for any of their bbq sauces, but that's ok beside the meat was so good you really don't need it. Beans and corn sides were great, and the fries and slaw were also good. We had the peach bread pudding with ice cream and it was so yummy. We had lots of leftovers. They serve Pepsi products, which was a huge plus for me. Service was good, though we got our apps just about 1 minute before our meals which wasn't ideal. Definitely a great place to try whether it's restaurant week or not. Huge menu with many items to choose from. TVs around so you can catch a game like we did! ”
“ Visited this location for the first time tonight. Service and food were wonderful! I got the Campfire Salmon and it was amazing. I don't even like cauliflower but the salmon came with charred cauliflower with a cheese/garlic/butter/chile glaze and it was sooooo good!! My husband got a pound of burnt ends. Meat by the pound is not on the physical menu but you can order it. Everyone was also very friendly. When we left, our server, another server, the busser, and the hostess all wished us well. Def will be back soon! ”
“ Dinner at Char Bar was a good family choice . The restaurant was not busy , the fire pit was lit .The food was good and the plates came out quick after ordering . The service was not as good . Our waiter seem to be focus elsewhere. But we still had a fine time with good food . ”
“ We've been to the Westport location countless times, but after moving to Parkville, we were thrilled to discover that we love this Char Bar location EVEN MORE! The family-friendly atmosphere here is incredible, featuring full pickleball courts and other outdoor games that make it perfect for all ages. Plus, there are tons of TVs for game day, ensuring you won't miss a moment of the action! We adore the bar, dining room, and the inviting patio, which is great for enjoying the fresh air. The staff here are fantastic and truly loyal to their regulars; we can't wait to become part of that community! We recently brought friends along, and they were delighted to find our new home so close to this gem. Some of our favorite dishes include the classic BBQ meat plates--choose 2 or 3 meats for a hearty meal--and the hushpuppies, which are a must-try! You'll be pleasantly shocked by the chicken wings as well. When I'm not enjoying a local brew, my go-to cocktail is the Persephone. We will ALL definitely be back! ”
“ My husband and I grabbed some food to go, and it was pretty good. We tried two sandwiches, the Turkey Avacado Burger was tasty, and the steak sandwich was good. I would go back to try more when I get another chance. This is decorated well and a pleasant place to visit. ”
“ Some of the best bbq in KC for sure. Super juicy burnt ends that are a perfect mix of meaty and fatty. Delicious sweet but also well spiced (not spicy but spices-laden) tomato paste heavy sauce with hints of molasses and Worcestershire. Wonderful brisket that is also the ideal balance of fatty strip and juicy tender thick cut meat. No Zarda roast deli beef slices here! Comes with toast. Cowboy cauliflower is also to die for. Super flavorful greasy goodness. Excellent well organized take out service and separate desk area when you walk in. All around great place! ”
“ Tried the Whomp platter which is for 2-3 but I'm not sure what 2-3 people are finishing that in one sitting. Brisket , burnt ends , pork , ribs, ham, Turkey, sausage ,beans were incredible and slaw was . Came with toast that was very good. We sat outside on the turf which I felt like they forgot about us. Server was a tad odd. He brought us this huge platter but no plates and no additional napkins. Overall very good. Would sit inside next time. ”
“ Food: It's been a while since I visited Char Bar, so I was excited to check it out again. The food was excellent; I thoroughly enjoyed my entree and the fried pickles. Service: The service could have been better. Our server took nearly 15-20 minutes to take our order and rarely checked in to refill our waters. At one point, she claimed that my friend had ordered another cocktail, which was confusing since my friend hadn't ordered another drink. Atmosphere: The restaurant is quite spacious with a great ambiance. It does get busy around 6-7 p.m., so you might want to avoid those peak hours if you prefer a quieter environment for conversation. ”
